As the independent founder and owner of Crisis Magazine, I single-handedly conceptualized, funded, and executed CAMP-CRISIS 2023, a pre-party event in Beverly Hills that served as a vibrant lead-up to the legendary Camp Flog Gnawfestival. A celebration of music, art, culture, and counterculture, this event was an embodiment of the Crisis Magazine ethos—unapologetic, authentic, and independent.
Key Responsibilities & Achievements:
Event Creation & Leadership: From initial concept to full execution, I handled every aspect of the event, including financing, production, logistics, and on-site coordination—delivering an immersive experience for my magazine's unique audience.
Brand Curation & Partnerships: Curated partnerships with emerging brands, local vendors, and creators, ensuring an event that resonated with the core values of Crisis Magazine—creativity, authenticity, and the celebration of underground culture.
Talent Booking & Performance Coordination: Booked and coordinated a diverse lineup of artists and performers, including Left Brain (Odd Future), DJ Tate Canyon (myself), RIMERA, TGBEAM, and Igwe Aka, offering both established and rising talent a platform.
Marketing & Community Engagement: Led a strategic marketing campaign across social media, email, and partnerships with influencers to drive ticket sales, increase event visibility, and ensure a strong connection with my magazine’s engaged fanbase.
Crisis Magazine Representation: Used the event to showcase the magazine’s voice in the LA counterculture scene, with special magazine sales, limited-edition prints, and a collaborative space for fans to connect with the brand.
Legal & Strategic Navigation: Responded to a cease-and-desist order from AEG Presents and Golf Wang, turning it into an opportunity to reinforce the independent, rebellious spirit of the magazine and the event.
On-Site Management: Personally managed event logistics, including sound, stages, vendor coordination, and guest services, ensuring smooth operations and an unforgettable experience for attendees.
Event Highlights:
Full-Day Experience: Hosted a dynamic day of live performances, DJ sets, interactive art installations, exclusive Crisis Magazine sales, and a curated marketplace, all with no team behind me.
Collaborations & Sponsorships: Secured an open dab bar partnership with Plug Play, brought in a diverse range of vendors, and provided a platform for local creators and independent brands.
Press Coverage: Featured in LA Weekly for defying industry norms, providing an authentic, independent alternative to the larger, corporate-run events in LA.
Community Impact: Delivered an unforgettable, safe space for the LA community and festival-goers to celebrate the local culture, highlighting Crisis Magazine’s role as a powerful voice for the next generation of creators, artists, and music lovers.
By leading CAMP-CRISIS 2023 on my own, I reinforced Crisis Magazine’s identity as an independently run, culture-forward brand, committed to producing raw, unfiltered content and experiences for a dedicated audience. The event not only celebrated the spirit of LA’s underground scene but also affirmed Crisis Magazine's place as a major cultural player in today’s media landscape.
